Physical 3D

we did some pysicl 3d when we started the year and I attempted to make a face with little success, However I have attempted it again and created 2 models one of a shark and the other of a serpent creature

Looking at SketchFab

SkechFab is a great website where people are able look at other peoples 3D work and comment on it so it allows people to give others advice and creative criticism to help people improve on their work and become better at 3D and possibly make it into their future job or just do it for a hobby. You can get people though who will write rubbish on the comments who can get you down about your work but the best thing to do Is to ignore all them people and just try to improve your work by listening to the people who are there trying to help.

The images above are of Signs from some of the shops near my college and some of them in my opinion are good and others are bad, the GreenWoods one is by far the worst one as just looking at it you can see that the sign is wearing away compared to one like the Costa one where it is brand new and looks like it as been looked after and Greenwoods doesn’t show what they sell which I believe to be a big flaw as just by seeing the sign for greenwoods people wouldn’t know what they sell and what they may have in stores compared to something like the real sandwich where it literally says what it sells in the sign so I think that is a positive of signs is if they have something to say what they sell in it like cardmaker. However signs like Costa and EE don’t exactly have what they sell in them but they are such big companies they don’t need to as most people know what they sell so for little companies like those behind greenwoods I believe it would be best if they was to have something that showed what they sold on the sign.

This is a concept of a house with an underground garage I have had it the front of it just shows the house, however the back of it shows the inside and what would be the garage too, there aren’t any furniture it is just the basic shape of the building just so people are able to see what I’m thinking of

Reflect on semester one Creative futures

Looking back at semester one Creative future’s I have taken in to account the file system on my memory stick and updated it for the final hand in as the file system I had before wasn’t great as it had some files with nothing in so I have now decided to make my files have the name of that part on the brief it is with the located work within it. Also there where a couple of the briefs that I didn’t believe where good enough so I have made some improvements to hopefully improve my grade at the end of the year and hopefully get into the next year of my subject as I then would be one step closer to becoming a games designer and Creative futures will help me the most on what I want to do so I hope to improve on this over the next two years as I would love to become  a character designer and maybe one day could create a character as iconic as Lara croft or Mario. I have recently done a building design on Sketch up as I thought about it after looking at one of my friends images and I have included that in my semester one work as part of it is Introducing sketch up and I believe its good to see how I have improved.

Reviewing The Story of Overwatch By Gamespot

Looking at the first video done by GameSpot on Youtube they go into how the fall of one game can go on to have ideas for another that looks like will be one of Blizzard Entertainments newest hit and could be a big game on PC, XBOX and PS4. They speak about how when they was designing the cancelled game Titan the team drifted away from each other and they were there creating parts for the game that they were told to do and because of this they probably had a lot of problems when coming up with the game and with them doing it for years they probably thought that they wasted time.

Many of the people in Blizzard Entertainment was working on Titan and the fact that they had a game that would of been so big get cancelled was very depressing to all of them. However the next game would go on to be a big hit when they showed it at BlizzCon and with the success the Bata has had shows that Overwatch is going to be a big game for Blizzard.

Blizzard are normally not know for creating first person shooters so this is  a big step for them as they are normally known for creating games like world of war craft a Massively multiplayer online role-playing game and known for creating Characters with Magic and Swords not really games where there are guns, All the people at Blizzard did have lots of thoughts about creating Overwatch that they had a look at old first person shooters like Quake and Team Fortress and also recent ones like COD and saw that there was a lot of room to add their own twist to the genre as they saw that the games like COD and Battlefield is that there was no way to travel across the map apart from running so when they was coming up with the characters they wanted some of the characters to have moves that allows them to travel across the map at speed to get back into the action like Tracers Blink ability.

There first focus is on the characters and nothing else so when they was creating the settings in the game they didn’t want to make the characters small and not mean much compared to the setting. They did do a lot of research into the size of the maps, they loaded up COD and team fortress and saw what size of maps they was using and created game maps to that sort of size. Compared to other first person shooters they don’t have the normal K/D ratio and didn’t want people to see how people are doing compared to other players and if they made kills and deaths there are some characters like Mercy who would not be killing people but would be there healing all the other hero’s on the team. They mainly want people to work as a team and do the objective and on some of the game modes they will not be able to win if they don’t have good team work.

When they was looking at creating a character with a rocket launcher they wanted to create the character around the rocket launcher and that they wanted to make it look like they would go together they also wanted to have a character with a jet pack and they looked at what would happen if they had a character with a rocket launcher and jetpack so the character would get splash damage. They also have characters that look like games that are already out like D-VA who uses like a TitanFall armour just smaller and Solider 76 who is like the iconic first person shooter who has a assault rifle and running in there that is basically a character from COD.

Sketch up and basic digital mock ups (Semester 1)

Above are two print screens of a quick mock up of a house with a lift going to the garage. this could possibly be seen in games life GTA where you are able to buy houses online and have your cars there too so you are able to drive around as soon as getting out your house. I looked at a design done by one of my friends Harry (a link to his blog will be below) and I had an idea after I saw one od his designs in Sketch up which was a cafe’ I saw the downstairs to it and thought of a garage as different people see things differently. So I thought a garage underneath the house where to get in you would have to use an elevator.
